Midtown Sacramento is an amazing neighborhood. It is known for being a hub of arts and culture in Sacramento. We believe that God was the first creative community and that, as beings given life in God’s image, art is an important part of life. We are excited to join community marked by an artistic ethos.At the same time as being a cultural hub, Midtown is also a place of increasing poverty. One of our greatest hopes as a community is to live as a conjunction between art and poverty. We believe that this is how God is calling us to love and live in Midtown.

We are blessed to be a part of the Friends tradition - Evangelical Friends to be exact. This tradition gives us a rich heritage of listening to God - especially through times of silence and through the Judeo-Christian Scriptures (commonly known as the Bible), seeking peace, and working to end injustice and empower the marginalized. As Evangelical Friends, we also have a heritage of being dedicated to Jesus Christ. As our denomination’s motto says: “Jesus: right here, right now.”
community
We are a church, but we choose to call ourselves a community. Not because we don’t like the word “church,” but because it sometimes leads people to think that all we are about is a few hours on a Sunday. Midtown Friends is a community - a family of people seeking to follow Jesus together. We do meet on Sundays, and that is an important part of our lives together - but it is only one part. Also, by calling ourselves a community, we hope to also remember that the Church is not individual isolated groups but the collective body of all people who believe in and seek after Jesus.We hope to be a community with in the greater Friends Church and within what is known as the Universal Church (or the whole church around the world and across denominational lines). Our little family wants to work alongside and love the greater family of Christ-Followers.
